“Something Exciting is Starting Here”: Kick off the Year at General Assembly Aug. 23

New campuses, new programs, and a milestone birthday: ACC will kick off a year of transforming events for the college at General Assembly, Friday, Aug. 23, at the Hilton Austin hotel.

The day will begin at 8 a.m. with breakfast and a chance for participants to visit information tables for various college departments and programs.

The event keynote speaker is Dr. Kay McClenney, who will present “Completion Matters.” McClenney is director of the Center for Community College Student Engagement and a faculty member in the Community College Leadership Program at The University of Texas at Austin.

In the afternoon, employees can choose from more than 40 workshops focusing on professional and technical skill development.

All faculty and staff can attend, with their supervisor’s approval. Those unable to attend can view a live webcast of the morning presentations on ACC’s live streaming website. A closed-captioned video will be available after the event.

Because of the expected high attendance, please note available parking and shuttle options:

Parking is free at the Hilton Austin parking garage (500 E. Fourth St.). Employees should identify themselves as an ACC conference attendee. Arrive early: Spaces will fill up fast.

Shuttles will depart from Highland Business Center and the South Austin Campus every 30 minutes from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Return trips from the Hilton to HBC or SAC will begin at 11:30 a.m. and run every 30 minutes until 1 p.m. Overflow parking for HBC will be available at Highland Mall.

Employees also may carpool or use their Green Pass to ride the MetroRail or MetroBus. Click on the links for schedules.
