ACC hospitality students network with industry professionals at a Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International meeting.

Students from ACC’s Travel & Tourism and Hospitality, Meeting & Event Planning programs tested their knowledge against industry professionals in a battle of “Are you smarter than a hospitality student?” during a Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International meeting held in Austin Sept. 18.

ACC students Shelby Dewitt, Maggie Gallant, and Douglas Wilburn participated in a spin-off of the television game show “Are You Smarter than a 5^th Grader?” When teams of industry professionals were unable to answer a question about Austin and the hospitality field, they could turn to the ACC students for assistance.

Wilburn answered the final question of the game, giving his team the win. After the game, participants and other ACC students networked with professionals and learned about scholarships.

“This was a great opportunity for our students to meet mentors and discuss career opportunities with industry professionals,” says Nichole Golden, special event coordinator for the Hospitality Department.
