Drama Department Presents “Reasons To Be Pretty” Oct. 25-Nov. 3

ACC students Patrick Delgado and Alexis Henderson perform in "Reasons to Be Pretty."

The ACC Drama Department will present Neil LaBute’s “Reasons To Be Pretty,” Oct. 25-Nov. 3 at the Rio Grande Campus Mainstage Theater (1212 Rio Grande St., second floor). Performances take place Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.

“Reasons To Be Pretty” is a romantic drama that centers on four young friends who become dissatisfied with their dead-end lives and each other. The characters ponder their discontent with their physical beauty while being forced to examine their less-than-pretty natures.

“This play speaks to our society today and our obsession with reshaping ourselves to fit what our culture deems beautiful,” says Marla Dean, adjunct professor of drama and the play’s director. “It also speaks to our students and what they’re often going through at this stage.”

Tickets are $8, with proceeds benefiting drama and dance scholarships. Tickets can be purchased in advance through ACC Marketplace.
