ACC’s College Connection Earns National Recognition

An Austin Community College program that helps high school seniors navigate the college application process is being recognized for its successful track record in addressing a common community college challenge.

ACC’s College Connection is one of 10 programs nationwide selected as a finalist for the 2014 Legacy Award to be given at the annual Community College Futures Assembly (CCFA) gathering in January.

Sponsored by the Association of Community College Trustees, the Legacy Award acknowledges community college programs that demonstrate five years of “successful institutional transformation and/or proven program replication.” Nominated programs are previous finalists for the prestigious CCFA Bellwether award, which recognizes innovative programs and practices in three categories: Instructional Programs & Services; Planning, Governance, & Finance; and Workforce Development.

ACC’s College Connection helps area high school seniors navigate the college enrollment process by providing one-on-one assistance with admissions and financial aid applications, Texas Success Initiative testing, and new student advising.
