Crime Alert: Carjacking March 7, 2014

At approximately 8:20 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2014, an ACC student was carjacked while parked on Grove Street in front of the Riverside Campus. Two men brandishing a handgun tapped on the window and told the student to get out of the car. The student complied, and the men drove away in the car. The student was uninjured. ACC Riverside faculty, staff, and students were alerted.

Today, on Wednesday, March 19, a similar incident occurred in a different part of Austin. While it did not occur near ACC property or involve an ACC student, ACC District Police advises everyone to take extra precaution until the suspects are apprehended.

The Austin Police Department is looking for two Hispanic males, one wearing a gray hooded sweat shirt and blue jeans, the other wearing all black.

ACC District Police urge you to be aware of your surroundings and park on campus whenever possible. If you park off campus, it’s important to not delay in your vehicle but leave as soon as possible. If you see suspicious behavior, please report it to ACC District Police by calling (512) 223.7999.
