The ballot is set for ACC's Board of Trustees election

The ballot is set for this November’s Austin Community College District Board of Trustees election. Voters will choose trustees for three seats on ACC’s 9-member board.
The candidate filing period closed August 18.
Place 1:
  • Mark Williams – Williams served two terms as president of the Austin Independent School Board of Trustees.
  • Tim Mahoney – Mahoney, place 1 incumbent, is an attorney, community lawyer, and trained mediator. He was first elected to the board in 2008.

Place 2:

  • Jade Chang Sheppard – Sheppard is an Austin entrepreneur. She has served as vice chair of finance for the Texas Democratic Party and on the board of directors at the Austin Children’s Shelter and the Asian-American Resource Center.
  • Gigi Edwards Bryant – Bryant is an ACC Foundation board member and serves on the advisory council of the Texas Department of Family Services.
  • Robert (Bob) Allen – Allen worked as a special assistant to the ACC president from 1981 to 1983. He also served as an adjunct professor at the college.
  • Jonathan G. Mathers – Mathers is chief of staff for State Rep. Bill Callegari. He also serves as chief clerk for the House Committee on Public Pensions and is an adjunct associate professor of government for ACC.
  • Michael J. Lewis – Lewis is an auditor who has lived in Austin for nearly 26 years.

  • Robert (Robb) J. Misso – Misso is founder and president of Dynamic Manufacturing Solutions, LLC. He also is a founding board member at the Austin Regional Manufacturers Association.
Place 3:
  • Nan McRaven – McRaven, place 3 incumbent, is a public affairs consultant. She joined the ACC Board of Trustees in 2002 and has served as board chair and vice chair.
The ACC Board of Trustees provides high-level leadership to ensure the college’s programs and initiatives meet the needs of the communities served. Trustees serve six-year terms, with three seats up for election every two years.
Board members are elected at large by voters in the ACC taxing district, which encompasses the city of Austin as well as the Austin, Leander, Manor, Del Valle, Round Rock, Elgin, and Hays school districts. Candidates must reside in the taxing district.
