ACC celebrates Hispanic American culture with colorful events

Austin Community College kicks off Hispanic Heritage Month with two events on Sept. 16. The college recognizes the efforts made by Hispanic Americans and their contributions to Central Texas and the United States by celebrating their culture.

Please check out the following events, which are free and open to the public:

Diez y Seis de Septiembre, hosted by the ACC Center for Public Policy & Political Studies

When: Sept. 16 from noon to 1 p.m.

Where: ACC Riverside Campus (1020 Grove Blvd., Exterior of Bldg. G)

ACC Riverside Campus Mural Installation Ceremony, hosted by El Centro

When: Sept. 16, 6 p.m.

Where: Riverside Campus (1020 Grove Blvd., Building G Lecture Hall)

Hispanics have had a profound and positive influence on our country through their strong commitment to family, faith, and hard work ethics. Their presence has helped shape North America over the last 500-plus years and with more than 50 million people, they make up the largest minority group in the U.S.
