Bistro 3158 ready to provide cuisine from around the world

AUSTIN, Texas (September 29, 2014) - ACC Culinary Arts students invite you to travel with them around the world as they serve international cuisine at the college’s fine dining restaurant, Bistro 3158, open Thursday evenings October 2 – December 4 at Eastview Campus (3401 Webberville Rd., Room 3158). The restaurant will not be open on Thanksgiving Day.

This week’s menu spotlights Korean cuisine with Duk Gook soup, Beef Bulgogi with Kimchee, and Strawberry Kiwi Roll Cake. Future cuisines to be highlighted include Morocco, China, and India. You also may choose from the house menu, which includes such dishes as paella and Irish beef stew. The cost of the four-course meal is $22, plus tax. Visit austincc.edu/cularts/Bistro.php to view the menus and make a reservation or call 512.223.5334.

“This restaurant gives students hands-on practice. They learn about the culture of different regions and design a menu around those foods,” says Chef Laura LaGue, instructor for American Regional Cuisine. “They have to understand food cost, sourcing of ingredients, harmonious parings of courses and plate presentation; just like they would in a restaurant setting.”

Bistro 3158 is open to the public. In lieu of a gratuity, guests are invited to complete a comment card, which further supports the learning process.

Riverbats Café also opens at Eastview Campus on Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. beginning this week.
