Voters elect Bryant to Board of Trustees in runoff election

Gigi Edwards Bryant won Tuesday’s runoff election for Place 2 on the Austin Community College District Board of Trustees.

Bryant, an ACC Foundation board member and member of the advisory council of the Texas Department of Family Services, defeated Jade Chang Sheppard, an Austin entrepreneur who served as vice chair of finance for the Texas Democratic Party and on the board of directors at the Austin Children’s Shelter and the Asian-American Resource Center.

Here are the unofficial results:

  • Bryant  – 31,566 votes (54.4 percent)
  • Sheppard  –  26,471 votes (45.6 percent)

These results must be verified by election officials.

Bryant joins the board’s other newly elected trustees, Mark Williams for Place 1 and re-elected incumbent Nan McRaven for Place 3, who each secured their seat in November’s general election.

Board members serve staggered six-year terms and are elected at large by registered voters who live within ACC District. Bryant will take office in the next board meeting, schedule for January 20.

Comprehensive runoff results are available on the ACC External Affairs webpage at austincc.edu/gvtcr. Individual county results will be available through county election websites.
