The Austin Community College District (ACC) will celebrate its summer and fall graduates during commencement at 6 p.m., Thursday, December 10, at the Frank Erwin Center (1701 Red River St.).

“This is an exciting time for our students,” says Dr. Richard Rhodes, ACC president/CEO. “It takes dedication and perseverance to achieve this level of success. Our students have worked hard, and the college is proud of all of their accomplishments.”

The commencement ceremony will live stream on the college’s website. It will include a tribute to graduating veterans, who will receive medallions in appreciation of their service and stand for acknowledgement during the ceremony.

Dr. Belle Wheelan, president of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, will deliver the keynote address. With a career spanning more than 40 years in higher education, Dr. Wheelan is forging pathways for African-Americans and women in the workforce. Following a successful career as a community college professor and administrator, Dr. Wheelan made history when she was named the first African-American and first woman to serve as president of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
