ACC hosts statewide photography conference

ACC’s Photographic Technology Department hosted high school students and teachers from around the state at the Association of Texas Photography Instructors (ATPI) Winter Conference in February.

More than 450 students and instructors from 41 schools, mostly from Texas, attended the conference to learn about the latest trends in photography.

“It’s inspiring to see the potential that lies ahead,” says Bill Woodhull, chair of the ACC Photographic Technology Department. “We hope the high school students are encouraged to continue their education and their art after high school.”

Faculty and staff from ACC’s Photographic Technology, Radio Television and Film, and Visual Communication departments led hands-on workshops on topics such studio lighting techniques and advanced digital photography tools. Thirteen ACC students also were selected to showcase their photography portfolios.

Arlington-based ATPI provides information and resources to teachers and students in various photography curriculum areas, including art, journalism, industrial technology, and vocational.
