New webpage helps students, faculty connect with area-of-study advisors

Austin Community College students, faculty, and staff can take advantage of a new webpage that will help them connect with a college advisor by campus or area of study.

The page includes a search function that makes it easy to sort by advisor name, region, campus, or area of study. Contact information is included for scheduling appointments.

The webpage supports new advising processes that will allow ACC to provide more individualized, knowledgeable, and up-to-date guidance by pairing students with advisors who specialize in their selected area of study.

The college plans to assign incoming students who are new to college to an advisor according to the area of study and home campus designated on their application. Students will be encouraged to meet with their advisor throughout the semester and review their degree progress before each registration period.

Advisors also will reach out to students to offer support and assistance with decisions about their pathway and their overall adjustment to college.

ACC is implementing processes for managing advisor assignments. Until then, students can choose an advisor from their area of study at a campus that is convenient for them. Advising sessions are by appointment, and new students should call or email ahead to schedule.

Current students or new students with 12 or more credits are invited to meet with an area-of-study advisor or faculty advisor. They may receive area-of-study advising on a drop-in basis by signing in at the Student Services Welcome Desk at any campus.
