Set course for a great year at General Assembly Aug. 26

Austin Community College faculty and staff are invited to join their colleagues in setting a course for the future at General Assembly Friday, August 26, at the downtown Austin JW Marriott hotel (110 E. Second St.).

The day begins at 8 a.m. with breakfast and a chance to connect with various college departments and programs at information tables.

Morning events include the state of the college address by President/CEO Dr. Richard Rhodes, the announcement of the Riverbats Bravo Employee of the Year recipient, and a raffle. See a list of raffle prizes.

Featured keynote speaker Garrett Groves, director of the Economic Opportunity Program at the Center for Public Policy Priorities, will discuss “Building Talent Pipelines: Aligning Education, Workforce and Economic Development.”

Before taking part in afternoon workshops at Highland Campus and Highland Business Center, faculty and staff can purchase lunch from food trucks in the Highland Campus west parking lot.

Employees can choose from more than 40 workshops focusing on professional and technical skill development. Afternoon sessions are 1:30 – 3 p.m. and 3:15 – 4:45 p.m., with mini sessions in-between. A few options:

Transportation and parking

Parking is available at the Marriott; however space is limited. Please consider taking one of the free shuttles, carpooling, or riding the MetroRail or MetroBus.

Shuttles will depart from Highland Campus beginning at 7:15 a.m. and run every 15 minutes until 9 a.m. Return trips will begin at noon and run every 15 minutes. Shuttle riders will receive an extra raffle ticket.
