Austin Community College is working to get seniors back in the workforce. Austin has the nation’s fastest growing population of 55- to 64-year-olds and the second fastest growing population of seniors 65 and up. Today, ACC hosted a luncehon to kickstart an effort aimed at utilizing the 50+ demographic. The meeting today included local employers, policy makers, and community organizations to collaborate.

“What we find with this demographic is their background is very eclectic,” says Ann Pamela Fant-Saez, MA, ACC BACK TO WORK 50+ director. “Some of them are coming with tremendous work experience, but the crisis for this demographic is computer training and technology.”

The effort is a collaboration with AustinUp, a nonprofit organization formed as a result of Mayor Adler’s task force.
