ACC completes purchase of southeast Travis County land

Austin Community College has completed its previously contracted purchase of approximately 124 acres of land in southeast Travis County.

The college plans to use the site for a future career-technical training center that will provide much-needed space for programs such as automotive technology, building construction technology, heating, air conditioning and refrigeration technology, welding technology, jewelry, and more.

“ACC is committed to developing advanced facilities that will prepare students for in-demand jobs,” says ACC President/CEO Dr. Rhodes. “There are currently thousands of unfilled jobs in Central Texas. We are grateful for the voters’ support. With that, we are building the facilities and expanding programs that will train the workforce of today and tomorrow.”

The $10.5 million purchase is financed through bonds approved by voters in November 2014. ACC’s Board of Trustees authorized the purchase in June. The college completed its due diligence and closed on the property ― located about one-half mile south of SH 71 at FM 973 ― earlier this month.
