ACC fall enrollment surpasses 41,000 credit students

Enrollment at Austin Community College is on the rise districtwide. According to final 12th day data, more than 41,000 students registered for classes so far this fall.

“ACC’s student body has increased 38 percent in the past 10 years,” says Neil Vickers, ACC vice president of finance. “The college’s newest campuses are experiencing particularly rapid growth, a strategic effort to relieve overcrowding districtwide.”

The Hays and Highland Campuses are nearing capacity, while the Elgin Campus, home to the college’s new veterinary technician and sustainable agriculture programs, experienced a 20 percent enrollment increase from fall 2014 to fall 2015.

All three locations are part of the bond construction projects that will expand programs and facilities over the next few years.

“It’s important that we continue to support students once they’re here,” says Dr. Charles Cook, ACC executive vice president and provost. “ACC is committed to student success and helping students achieve their academic and career goals whether earning a certificate or degree or transferring to a university.”

In addition to the increase in credit students, the college will enroll approximately 15,000 students this year in non-credit Continuing Education and Adult Education classes.
