ACC Highland Phase 2 expansion set to begin; celebrate September 21

Construction is set to begin on ACC Highland phase 2 that will add advanced facilities to prepare students for high-demand careers and nurture local business growth. The college will host a ceremonial groundbreaking 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, September 21, at ACC Highland, Building 4000 (6101 Highland Campus Dr.).

The phase 2 project includes the college’s first school-to-business incubator, a Health Sciences simulation center, multimedia art gallery, and 21,000-square-foot workforce center.

It also includes expanded space for more than a dozen ACC programs including Computer Science and Information Technology, Game Development, Music Business Performance Technology, Architectural and Engineering Computer Aided Design, Radio/Television/Film, Visual Communication, Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management.

“ACC Highland will continue to expand real-world learning opportunities that benefit both students and employers,” says Dr. Richard Rhodes, ACC president/CEO. “With our partners, we’re building the centers that will move our community forward.”

Phase 2 comprises 415,000 square feet inside the former Highland Mall and will open with capacity to serve 5,000 students.

ACC Highland phase 2 is one of several ongoing college capital improvement projects. Follow their progress on the ACC Bond Projects website.
