ACC hosts 2nd annual Operation Riverbats Service Week Oct. 22-30

The Austin Community College District (ACC) invites students, faculty, and staff to give back to the community during the second annual Operation Riverbats Service Week Saturday, October 22, through Sunday, October 30.

Coordinated by the Office of Student Life, Operation Riverbats provides meaningful volunteer opportunities both on and off campus where students, faculty, staff, and alumni learn valuable skills, create relationships with their peers, and learn about the importance of giving back to the community.

“This is a great way for ACC to give back and serve all of our wonderful communities in one week,” says Stefanie Vermillion, Student Life coordinator. “Students, faculty, staff, and alumni have the chance to volunteer with 40 amazing nonprofit organizations to make a real impact and get involved with Austin in a hands-on way.”

In its inaugural year, Operation Riverbats volunteers spent two days boxing meals for the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas, preparing lunches at Caritas of Austin, leading a game hour at the Austin Resource Center for the Homeless, and sharing dinner and activities with families and children through Foundation for the Homeless.
