ACC selected for Texas Pathways Project

Austin Community College is one of 12 Texas community colleges chosen to participate in the Texas Pathways Project, an initiative to help more institutions transition to guided pathways.

Sponsored by the Texas Success Center and funded by the Greater Texas Foundation, the Texas Pathways Project seeks to help more colleges adopt guided pathways, which emphasize clear educational roadmaps and personalized, proactive support services.

Participating colleges will receive assistance in implementing pathways at their institutions and will serve as models for other colleges in the state.

“We were very impressed by ACC’s efforts to-date to address the ways students experience higher education in Texas,” says Dr. Cynthia Ferrell, director of the Texas Success Center. “We’re looking forward to assisting these dedicated and innovative colleges achieve their goals and help create meaningful futures for Texas students.”

ACC Executive Vice President and Provost Dr. Charles Cook says the project allows ACC to explore how guided pathways can be applied to the specific challenges Texas colleges and students face.

Other Texas Pathways Project colleges are: Amarillo College, Brazosport College, Dallas County Community College District, Grayson College, Houston Community College System, Lone Star College District, McLennan Community College, Midland College, South Texas College, Southwest Texas Junior College, and Temple College.

Selected colleges will participate in biannual institutes focusing on pathways implementations. The 12 Pathways Project colleges will be joined by teams from Alamo Colleges, El Paso Community College, Paris Junior College, and San Jacinto College, which are participating in the American Association of Community Colleges’ Pathways Project, a national project for scaling pathways.
