ACC students tackle political conflicts at Constitution Day Debate

The Austin Community College District (ACC) hosts Austin Mayor Steve Adler at its ninth annual Constitution Day Debate Celebration honoring the signing of the U.S. Constitution.CDD

Students will discuss current critical issues such as religious beliefs, social media access, and Second Amendment rights.

The event is 6 to 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29, in the Palmer Events Center (900 Barton Springs Rd.).

“There are shades of gray in important issues. Students will work together to develop a deep understanding about the political issues in our society,” says Peck Young, director of ACC’s Center for Public Policy and Political Studies (CPPPS). “This is a unique opportunity for ACC students. We’re the only community college in the nation that does this.”

The award-winning event, hosted by CPPPS, ACC’s Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences, the ACC Department of External Affairs, and the Student Government Association, is free and open to all students. Refreshments will be provided.
