ACC’s police chief receives statewide award

Austin Community College District Police Chief C. Lynn Dixon was honored with the 2015 Bill G. Daniels Outstanding Administrator Award from the Texas Association of College and University Police Administrators (TACUPA).

The statewide group of college police departments includes representatives from approximately 60 colleges and universities in Texas.

“I’m honored and humbled to receive this recognition from my peers,” says Chief Dixon. “This award isn’t just for me, but for all the officers at the ACC Police Department. Our team works tirelessly to provide a safe campus and community that our students deserve.”

Dixon has been chief of police at ACC since 2011. He joined the department after 21 years as a state trooper where he retired as a lieutenant. He currently oversees a department that includes 92 officers and provides policing services to the district’s 11 campuses.

“I have known Chief Dixon for over 35 years.  He has been a consummate professional and an honorable person who has contributed to the law enforcement profession in many ways,” says Felipe Garza, TACUPA president. “He is fully deserving of the Bill G. Daniels Administrator of the Year Award.  The Board of Directors and the membership of the Texas Association of College and University Police Administrators (TACUPA) congratulate him for his efforts.”

The association presented the award to Chief Dixon during its annual luncheon June 2 in Arlington.
