Celebrate our grads May 14; faculty/staff shuttle offered

Austin Community College will celebrate its spring graduates at commencement at 6 p.m., Thursday, May 14, at the Frank Erwin Center (1701 Red River St.).

A faculty and staff shuttle to the event will depart from Highland Business Center at 4 p.m., 4:30 p.m., and 5 p.m. A bus will pick up at South Austin Campus at 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Return buses will depart at staggered times for up to one hour after graduation ends.

Commencement speakers are Dr. Walter Bumphus, president and CEO of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC), and his wife Dr. Aileen Bumphus, executive director of the University of Texas at Austin’s Longhorn Center for Academic Excellence Gateway Scholars Program.

The college will recognize 13 students from the first cohort of the early college high school program who will graduate with an Associate of Arts. The commencement ceremony also will include a tribute to graduating veterans, who will receive medallions in appreciation of their service.
