Events highlight success strategies for males of color

Austin Community College faculty, staff, and students recently participated in two events highlighting success strategies for males of color.

Embracing Equity

“Embracing Equity: A Call to Action to Improve the Lives of Young Men of Color” drew more than 100 faculty, staff, community members, and youth to the Eastview Campus September 13. Participants examined the “school-to-prison” pipeline for males of color and possible interventions.

Facilitators Arnold Chandler and Tia Martinez with San Francisco-based Forward Change Consulting presented data to illustrate an intergenerational cycle that prevents Latino and African-American males from achieving social mobility. View Mapping the School to Prison Pipeline.
