Golf Scramble Raises Over $19,000 for Student Emergency Fund

Golfers took to the links at the Riverside Campus on October 7 for ACC’s sixth annual Golf Scramble. The event raised more than $19,000 for the Student Emergency Fund, which helps ACC students who face catastrophic situations continue their education.

The foursome from Rockford Business Interiors, pictured here with ACC President Richard Rhodes and Board of Trustees Vice Chair Allen Kaplan, won the tournament.

“The student emergency fund really can make a difference in students’ lives,” says John Hernandez, an ACC Foundation board member and former college trustee who started the Golf Scramble. “The recent wildfires, which have affected a number of ACC students and staff, demonstrate how important it is to have a resource to help those in crisis.”

Cards placed in each golf cart told stories of students assisted by the fund, which helps students facing issues like significant uncovered family medical expenses and loss of housing.

SpawGlass Contractors, Inc. sponsored the tournament.
