Workshops, events highlight Distance Learning Week Nov. 10-14

Austin Community College will highlight distance learning opportunities for students and best practices for instructors during National Distance Learning Week, November 10-14.

The week will feature dozens of contests, workshops, webinars, and special events for faculty and students, concluding with a fair at the Highland Campus on Friday, November 14.

“Distance learning gives you an increased capacity to reach more people,” says ACC Provost Dr. Charles Cook. “It’s a very powerful tool for higher education.”

Number of students: 9,590

Part-time: 74.36%

Female: 62.75%

Age 31 and older: 30.5%

Age 18 and younger: 7.7%

During the week students can enter contests to win prizes, while faculty can take advantage of dozens of webinars and workshops addressing distance learning best practices.

The week will conclude with a faculty showcase and vendor fair on Friday, November 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Highland Campus. The faculty showcase will highlight successful practices in online course design.
