ACC Hosts Statewide Photography Conference
Spring 2014

High school students and teachers from around the state got a snapshot of the latest trends in photography at the recent Association of Texas Photography Instructors (ATPI) Winter Conference co-hosted by ACC’s Photographic Technology Department.

The February conference drew more than 325 students and instructors from 33 schools, mostly from Texas. More than 50 ACC faculty from ACC’s Photographic Technology, Radio Television and Film, and Visual Communication departments led hands-on workshops on topics such studio lighting techniques and advanced digital photography tools. The event also included contests and vendor exhibits.

“The ACC faculty’s enthusiasm and expertise were incredibly motivational for the high school photographers,” says Deanne Brown, photojournalism instructor from Austin’s Westlake High School and APTI president. “The hands-on sessions were a particularly valuable learning experience. People couldn’t stop talking about the state-of-the-art facilities at ACC and how they hope to return for future educational opportunities.”

The 28th annual event drew its largest attendance ever. Previous conference hosts include University of Texas at Austin, UT-Arlington, and Texas A&M University.
