The Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Cultural Center and West China Tea hosted a Gongfu Cha Demonstration to celebrate AAPI Heritage Month. Gongfu Cha (or Gongfu Tea, Chinese: \u5de5\u592b\u8336\/\u529f\u592b\u8336) translates to “making tea with skill”. It is a traditional Chinese tea preparation method sometimes referred to as a “tea ceremony”. The practice involves using smaller brewing vessels and a higher leaf-to-water ratio than in Western-style brewing. Today, the approach is used widely by teashops carrying tea of Chinese or Taiwanese origin. <\/span><\/p>\n West China Tea<\/a> started in 2012 as a specialty importer of farm-direct Chinese tea in Austin. Having built tea culture in Texas for the past decade, WCT now operates a large tea house and offers events, classes, and training, as well as more than 200 different teas from more than 40 different suppliers from all over China.
