May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month. It is a time to honor the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of AAPI communities and highlight their vital role in shaping our society.

As we celebrate the vibrant cultures and contributions of the AAPI community, we also acknowledge the hardships and devastation endured by generations of AAPI individuals amid discrimination, exclusion, and violence.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Austin Community College (ACC) proudly celebrated AAPI Heritage Month with a special event on May 2, 2026<\/strong>. This celebration included a variety of engaging workshops and cultural activities, offering opportunities for the community to come together in recognition and appreciation of the resilience, creativity, and cultural richness of AAPI Communities.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We kicked off the afternoon sessions with hands-on cultural arts and crafts stations celebrating AAPI traditions. Participants explored Chinese calligraphy, origami, Thai woven fish (Pla Taphian) making, Indian mandala coloring, and Hawaiian lei making, engaging in creative expression while learning about cultural significance and traditions.<\/span><\/p>\n
