The festival falls on the 15th day of the eighth month on the Lunar Calendar each year. On this day, children in many Asian countries carry their lantern and play outside with their friends at night; families gather to have dinner and mooncake while gazing at the beautiful full moon shining brightly when it is closest to the autumnal equinox, also called the Harvest Moon.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_button button_url=”https://www.britannica.com/story/shine-on-harvest-moon-festival” url_new_window=”on” button_text=”Learn More about the Harvest Moon Festival” _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”37d21493-2256-49d8-bf25-1231ea60ac75″ custom_button=”on” button_text_size=”16px” button_text_color=”#000000″ button_bg_color=”RGBA(0,0,0,0)” button_bg_image=”https://sites.austincc.edu/aapi/wp-content/uploads/sites/232/2022/07/high-school_07.png” button_bg_size=”initial” button_bg_position=”center_left” button_border_width=”0px” button_border_radius=”0px” button_font=”Roboto|700|||||||” custom_margin=”30px||||false|false” custom_padding=”0px||0px|75px|false|false” locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”][/et_pb_button][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”7262e956-c376-4aa6-9642-c413f71527d0″ text_line_height=”1.8em” custom_padding=”||0px|||” header_font_size_tablet=”55px” header_font_size_last_edited=”off|desktop” locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”]

On September 10, 2022, the AAPI Cultural Center celebrated the festival by hosting the Harvest Moon Concert featuring local AAPI musicians and educators: Dr. Risa Ando (violinist), Dr. Chi-hui Kao (cellist), Dr. Peir-Shiuan Tang (pianist), and Dr. Joyce Wu (pianist).
