The March 14 MTV-University (mtvU) Woodie Awards South by Southwest showcase featured several artists, surprise guests, and MTV video-jockeys (VJ’s).<\/p>\n

The line for admission extended down the street about 2 blocks from the venue, a vacant lot across from the Austin Convention Center. It took about an hour-and-a-half to get in.<\/p>\n

Once inside the event seemed more like a concert then an award show.<\/p>\n

Alternative group Twenty One Pilots took the stage wearing skeleton ski-masks. Two sets of drums were brought on stage allowing the drummer and lead singer to face off in an intense drum battle.<\/p>\n

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, opened their performance with confetti raining from the sky. Their popular Thrift Shop song kept the crowd jumping.<\/p>\n

The award show ended on a high note with Zedd, a dubstep DJ from Germany, who played a constant stream of music punctuated by pulsating lights.<\/p>\n
