This company has developed an app called \u201cToo Good To Go,\u201d which has become the No. 1 anti-food waste app.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Too Good To Go app provides an overview of shops and restaurants in your area that have surplus food which is put in a bag and sold at a lower price, which is called the \u201csurprise bag.\u201d Users can order a \u201csurprise bag\u201d right from their phones using the app.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The app is Editor\u2019s Choice and has received 4.8\/5 stars review on Apple Store<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since Too Good to Go\u2019s U.S. launch in 2020, the company has expanded over 12 major U.S. cities, including Austin.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have over 1.5 million Americans on our app and have saved over 1.3 million meals in just over a year,\u201d Too Good to Go\u2019s U.S. public relations specialist, Allie Sale said. \u201cIn 2022, we plan to hit 3 million meals saved.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/accent\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/157\/2022\/02\/Allie-Sale-U.S.-PR-Specialist-of-Too-Good-to-Go-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7268\" width=\"426\" height=\"568\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/accent\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/157\/2022\/02\/Allie-Sale-U.S.-PR-Specialist-of-Too-Good-to-Go-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/accent\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/157\/2022\/02\/Allie-Sale-U.S.-PR-Specialist-of-Too-Good-to-Go-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/accent\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/157\/2022\/02\/Allie-Sale-U.S.-PR-Specialist-of-Too-Good-to-Go-1200x1600.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 426px) 100vw, 426px\" \/><figcaption>Allie Sale, U.S. public relations specialist at Too Good To Go, has been an active \u201cWaste Warrior\u201d for years.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The most difficult thing the company has been facing is awareness.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOn the first day launched in Austin, our biggest issue was let\u2019s get out there and let people know we\u2019re here, so they know there is a solution for food waste and an option to get great food at great value,\u201d Sale said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To date, the company has established about 300 food business partners in Austin. According to Sale, since July 2021, Austin has saved over 30,000 meals.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s such a growth to see in the city that we\u2019ve just launched in. Be mindful about how much food you buy and make sure to go to the grocery store with a purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sale also shared her two favorite tips to minimize food waste.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen you organize your fridge, try to move the things that are going to expire first to the front,\u201d Sale said. \u201cAnd if there\u2019s anything that\u2019s fresh-produced, for example, meat that you know you\u2019re not going to get to, throw them in the freezer. It\u2019s the best tool to save food from going to waste.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cChanging your habits is never an overnight change,\u201d said Sale. \u201cStart with small changes. In 3 months, 6 months or a year, you\u2019ll be amazed by how much less you waste, and also how much less money you\u2019re wasting.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Too Good To Go has also created a knowledge hub about food waste and its impact on the planet which you can find on their website at <a href=\"https:\/\/toogoodtogo.org\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Too Good to Go.org (opens in a new tab)\">Too Good to Go.org<\/a>.
