Austin Community College acquires a 35-acre tract for a new north Austin Campus. The property, purchased from a joint venture partnership that had recently declared bankruptcy and located along Metric Boulevard in far north Austin, cost the College approximately $2 per foot. College officials figured on 70,000 square feet of usable space in three buildings initially and ultimately 175,000 square feet when construction of the campus was completed. ACC President Dan Angel declared: ‘We’re excited. . . . The campus will provide much better access to students on the north, northwest and northeast portions of the city.’
