At it’s regular meeting, convened on July 11, 1983, the Austin Community College Board Of Trustees voted not to renew President Cecil Groves’ contract. The tally was 5 to 4 against renewal, with the four minority trustees voting against renewal. Some of the heat came from a debate over whether ACC should purchase Westgate Mall and convert it into a college campus.
