ACC’s Elgin campus offers the first veterinary technician  training program in the greater Austin area after a successful bond election in August.

ACC’s president Richard Rhodes expressed appreciation for the voters who demonstrated their support for what the College has done to educate and train the citizens of the district along with a nod of approval going forward for ACC’s plans for a veterinary technician and sustainable agriculture entrepreneur programs. Rhodes said he appreciated voters’ confidence in ACC, adding that the College looked forward to getting to work on projects that benefit our students, our business and industry partners, and the entire region.”

Until now, ACC’s vet-tech students have gone to the Bastrop County Animal shelter where they have observed basic basis characteristics of many animals, such as their strength, and how to vaccinate them. Elgin Campus facilities will allow them to learn much more, such as nursing and laboratory skills.
