Welcome to the ACC 2023 Summer Music Intensive—New Asian Music Camp!
This camp offers a great opportunity for high school pianists, violinists, and cellists 15 years old and up, and current ACC students who are interested in exploring diversified repertoire and learning rich Asian musical heritage and culture. Students will be assigned to a group and musical pieces once they are accepted.
During this week long camp, students will participate in ensembles, masterclasses, individual instruction, inner competition, electives and fun activities under the guidance of outstanding Austin Community College music faculty and guest artists, which culminate in a public concert performance and banquet dinner on the final day.
Our Mission:
Classical musicians and composers of Asian descent have been deeply involved and devoted to the world of the Western classical music for a long time. However, their hard work and contribution was often unrecognized and under appreciated.
Developed by The Department of Music at Austin Community College and The Woven Sounds, a non-profit 501(c)(3) piano ensemble, this camp presents a great opportunity to celebrate Asian musical heritage and its harmonious integration with the Western classical music tradition with talented young musicians in the Austin area.
All the classes and activities are designed to bring students a unique and immersive experience to Asian music and cultures and help further establish their global view of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Important Dates:
After March 31, 2023–Rolling admissions until capacity is reached.
