ACC ADM Division Participates in the

West Austin Studio Tour

Welcome to WEST Austin Studio Tours, at ACC Highland!

Arts and Digital Media are opening up our new facilities in the 2000 building of the Highland Campus, as well as our existing facilities in our 4000 building to potential students and to the greater Austin community to tour our state-of-the-art performance and instructional spaces. There is nothing like it in Austin, and we are proud to welcome our students and audiences to our campus with this event. Please plan on joining us from 12:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. on any (or more) of these dates.

In many ways, the Arts and Digital Media division serves as the gateway to ACC. It’s through our performances, exhibits, recitals, concerts and showcases that students and audiences experience how dynamic our college is. Our faculty are noted and award-winning professionals in their fields, and our students engage in courses uniquely designed to challenge and unlock their creativity as they pursue careers in our workforce areas, or prepare to transfer to 4-year institutions.

The poet, and former chair of the National Endowment for the Arts, Dana Gioia said that “art is an irreplaceable way of understanding and expressing the world.” That is what our division is all about in Arts & Digital Media: guiding our students in how to understand their world, then providing them with the irreplaceable skills and confidence to express it.

We are delighted to be able to welcome you all into our spaces, and to share more information about our programs with you.

Perry Crafton, Interim Dean of Arts and Digital Media

Two new gallery spaces at Highland will open their inaugural exhibitions during this month’s West Austin Studio Tours events. Organized by The Art Galleries (TAG) at Austin Community College, these exhibitions will showcase artworks created by ACC students and faculty. For more information on TAG visit us online at: https://admc.austincc.edu/art/gallery/

Strictly Abstraction: ACC Studio Faculty Exhibition 2021 features the work of professors Shawn Camp, Shannon Faseler, Pehr Smith, and Sydney Yeager. The large-scale paintings in this exhibition demonstrate the tenuous line between representational art and purely, or strictly, abstract works. Drawing influences from artistic traditions and the natural world, these artists present work that necessitates an in-person, close-up viewing experience. This exhibition is located in Gallery 2000 (HLC 2.2450). Artist talks will be held during the Austin Studio Tours, see daily schedules above for more details.

2021 ACC Juried Art Exhibition introduces works by ACC students made in a wide variety of media, including painting, drawing, sculpture, digital art, photography, jewelry, ceramics, and printmaking. All of the works that are included in the exhibition were created in 2021 and selected by Art Department and invited ADM faculty for display. Come see this exhibition in Gallery 4000 (HLC 4.2105)!
