{"id":1389,"date":"2021-12-15T17:45:09","date_gmt":"2021-12-15T23:45:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/administrative-rules\/?p=1389"},"modified":"2023-07-17T13:52:50","modified_gmt":"2023-07-17T18:52:50","slug":"developmental-education-state-exemptions-and-exceptions-to-overall-tsi-requirements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/administrative-rules\/?p=1389","title":{"rendered":"Developmental Education: State Exemptions and Exceptions to Overall TSI Requirements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Value Statement<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ACC will follow all State-designated exemptions and exceptions to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.highered.texas.gov\/institutional-resources-programs\/public-universities-health-related-institutions\/texas-success-initiative-and-developmental-education\/\">Texas Success Initiative<\/a> (TSI) program.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Administrative Rule<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Any exemptions or exceptions from TSI requirements described by the Texas Legislature will be allowed at Austin Community College as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Acceptable ACT\/SAT\/TAKS\/STAAR scores<\/li>\n<li>Certificate programs of one year or less (Level-One Certificate, 42 or fewer semester hours or the equivalent)<\/li>\n<li>Students who satisfy the criteria for personal enrichment, and are not seeking a degree<\/li>\n<li>Students who serve on active duty as a member of: (1) the armed forces of the United States; or (2) the Texas National Guard<\/li>\n<li>Students who are currently serving as and, for at least the three-year period preceding enrollment, have served as a member of a reserve component of the armed forces of the United States<\/li>\n<li>Students who on or after August 1, 1990, were honorably discharged, retired, or released from: (1) active duty as a member of the armed forces of the United States or the Texas<\/li>\n<li>National Guard; or (2) service as a member of a reserve component of the armed forces of the United States<\/li>\n<li>Students who successfully complete a college preparatory course are exempt for a period of twenty-four (24) months from the date of high school graduation with respect to the content area of the course. The student must enroll in the students\u2019 first college-level course in the exempted content area in the student\u2019s first year of enrollment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Degrees or level two certificates will not be awarded to students who are not TSI complete.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Value Statement ACC will follow all State-designated exemptions and exceptions to the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) program.
