{"id":1350,"date":"2025-02-03T00:30:00","date_gmt":"2025-02-03T06:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/avpacad\/?p=1350"},"modified":"2025-01-28T12:14:39","modified_gmt":"2025-01-28T18:14:39","slug":"brotherly-shove-aka-tush-push","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/avpacad\/brotherly-shove-aka-tush-push\/","title":{"rendered":"Brotherly Shove (AKA Tush Push)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As I watched the NFL playoffs in January, the announcers periodically referenced&nbsp; the \u201ctush push\u201d.&nbsp; In the Philadelphia game (for the NFC conference championship) the announcers referred to the \u201cbrotherly shove\u201d.&nbsp; Both the tush push and the brotherly shove refer to the same short-yardage play, in which the team lines up behind the quarterback and tries to push him into the end zone for a touchdown, or push him forward for a first down.&nbsp; If you\u2019re a football fan, it\u2019s basically a quarterback sneak with a lot of help from behind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I don\u2019t know why, but I continue to think that our work in leading community colleges is all about something similar.&nbsp; Don\u2019t we all need the help of others?&nbsp; Don\u2019t we all benefit from the support of our colleagues?&nbsp; Don\u2019t we all need a push from behind?&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I believe in collaborative leadership and in distributed leadership.&nbsp; Everything we accomplish as instructional leaders is accomplished collectively.
