Episcopal Diocese of Texas
El Buen Samaritano

El Buen Samaritano is an outreach ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas committed to helping Latino and other families in Central Texas lead healthy, productive and secure lives through high-quality and affordable healthcare, education and financial security services. Registration for adult education occurs three times per year in August, January, and May.

Health and Human Services Commission

The Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) has eight benefit offices that offer support services and community partners that assist with application for benefits.

HHSC Benefit Offices

SNAP Food Benefits – Helps families buy food for good health. TANF Cash Help – Helps families with children age 18 and younger pay for basic needs. Health Care – Helps cover visits to doctors, dentists, and hospitals. Also covers medicines ordered by doctors and dentists. Support Services – Helps people with daily living needs, caregivers, and people with mental health, drug or alcohol issues.

HHSC Community Partners

In an effort to make it easier and more efficient for Texans to apply for and manage their HHSC benefits, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is partnering with community-based organizations to help people learn how they can get the most out of the HHSC’s benefits application and management website, YourTexasBenefits.com.

Manos de Cristo

Through a variety of programs, Manos de Cristo provides critically important services to thousands of people in the Greater Austin area. Its Dental Center, food pantry, clothes closet, and education programs lead clients toward self-sufficiency by providing much needed services in a caring and nurturing environment.

New Life Institute
East Austin Walk-in Counseling

New Life Institute is a non-profit counseling and training organization, dedicated to changing lives by providing professional services to those in emotional or spiritual need regardless of ability to pay. Samaritan Center

Professional counseling, integrative medicine, and psychiatric services that are accessible and affordable for all, especially vulnerable populations such as uninsured or underinsured low-income families, and veterans struggling with the emotional wounds of war. Services include career counseling.

Waterloo Counseling Services

Waterloo Counseling Center is a private, nonprofit organization. Waterloo provides low cost counseling services, accepts many major forms of insurance and is a place where everyone can receive mental health services in a culturally-affirming and accepting environment. Waterloo offers high quality, affordable mental health counseling to the entire community and has an expertise in serving the LGBTQ community; people living with HIV/AIDS and their loved ones; and people experiencing trauma, depression or anxiety.
