Examples of tools that students are expected to provide. These are available at home improvement and hardware stores. Most classes use the same tools. A few classes require additional tools; those are listed below.
Note: protective eye wear must be ANSI 87 compliant. These are easily available at hardware stores.
- Measuring Tape – 1″ blade recommended; architectural scale (feet/inches) required
- Speed Square

Below tools are optional for Construction Methods and Materials; may be required for other classes
- Chisel
- Combo Square – 6″ recommended for Cabinet Making classes, 6″ or 12″ optional for Conventional Exterior Finish Systems class
- cats paw (aka pry bar)
- Earplugs
