Message from the Chancellor: Continued Planning for Fall | Faculty & Staff

Dear Riverbats,

On Friday, we hosted a Campus Conversation with the Chancellor to share more details and updates about ACC’s ongoing work to return to campus and what our new normal looks like. More than 550 employees joined the livestream. For those of you who couldn’t be on the call, we recorded the conversation. You can find a link on the Campus Conversations web page. I encourage you to make time to listen. This is an especially important update right now as we monitor COVID-19 cases and the Delta variant across Central Texas.

We monitor the regional situation daily and meet regularly with health authorities in Central Texas to get the latest information on measures to stop the spread of COVID-19. Our plans evolve and adapt as needed so that we may continue moving forward. You can follow the latest updates on the college’s COVID-19 Informational webpage.

Our health and safety protocols are important. We are doing what we can to keep our campuses safe. While we cannot require face masks, we strongly encourage you to wear one to help stop the spread of this virus. We also urge everyone to practice safe social distancing on campus and get vaccinated. As an employee, you get up to four hours of administrative leave to get your COVID-19 vaccine. ACC hosts vaccination clinics on various campuses throughout August. You may find the schedule on the COVID-19 Vaccines & Testing webpage.

These are challenging circumstances. I want to thank you for your commitment to our students, your focus on health and safety, and your understanding as we move forward.

Regards,
Richard M. Rhodes, Ph.D.
Chancellor
Austin Community College District
