The App ACCelerator: Austin Can Code

Partnering with Apple Computer, ACC will be offering an app development program that will prepare students for entry level jobs as Swift App Developers. Apple Swift has become one of the world’s most popular programming languages and has been used by Airbnb, Lyft, LinkedIn, Eventbrite and many other businesses to create robust, fast apps. Students will learn to code and design fully functional apps, as well as acquire critical job skills in software product design and development.

Initially, three Swift courses will be offered:

  • Intro to App Development with Swift (approx. 90 hours of student time). This course is for “non majors” (such as designers) who want to acquire or enhance app development skills without investing time in comprehensive computer science concepts
  • App Development with Swift, Part 1 (approx. 90 hours of student time). This is part one of a “majors” course and includes more comprehensive coverage of applied computer science concepts
  • App Development with Swift, Part 2 (approx. 90 hours of student time). This is part two of a “majors” course and includes more comprehensive coverage of applied computer science concepts

Additional courses are being planned and will be added when available.

App Development with Swift, Part 1 will be offered by ACC Continuing Education (CE) Fall 2017. For more information about CE Swift courses, call 512-223-CODE (512-223-2633).

In Spring 2018, App Development with Swift, Part 1 will be offered as a credit course and will count toward a certificate, as well as an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in:

  • Computer Programming (Computer Science and Information Technology Area of Study)
  • Game Design (Computer Science and Information Technology Area of Study)
  • User Experience Design (Visual Communications within Arts, Digital Media, and Communications Area of Study)
