Marla Dean, M.A., Ph.D., Professor of Drama, is a director, playwright and novelist. She received her degrees in theatre from the University of Texas at Austin and LSU. Dr. Dean has directed over sixty plays and musicals throughout the United States. She was the director of Tango and Reasons to be Pretty for ACC and currently teaches both Acting 1 and Introduction to Theatre.

Marla’s first novel, Simple Machines was published this year and her new play, The Environmentalists will be produced in Phoenix Arizona this year. She is a UIL one-act judge and also a judge for UIL film.
