At the agency, I was fortunate to become \u201ctech czar,\u201d which allowed me to suggest new technologies to improve agency operations. We were the first state agency to deploy email, a mainframe-based system, in the 70\u2019s and in 1995, a group (3) of us were able to link the Web to our mainframe, <a href=\"http:\/\/tinyurl.com\/bm5fvx9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/tinyurl.com\/bm5fvx9 <\/a>. Didn\u2019t do much after that, except to prepare for retirement in 2000. My post retirements years have been spent teaching economics at Austin Community College since 2008, and online with University of Maryland University College.
