While earning credit for GEOL 1345, students will explore ocean waves, shoreline processes, chemical oceanography, and diverse marine ecosystems directly in the field rather than only learning about them in a classroom. Participants will collect scientific data, investigate unique coastal habitats, and observe natural processes in real time, gaining valuable hands-on experience while developing a deeper understanding of the ocean and its interconnected systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Living and learning at the research station also provides a unique opportunity to experience sustainability in practice. Students will see firsthand how renewable energy systems, rainwater catchment, and other sustainable technologies support life and research in remote environments. In addition to coursework, students may have opportunities to participate in ongoing research projects with station staff, helping build practical scientific and field skills while gaining insight into real-world environmental stewardship.
