Austin Community College’s Rio Grande Campus Kramer Gallery is excited to present a solo exhibition of work by multimedia artist, Yuliya Lanina. Paintings, animations, film and animatronic sculpture fill the space to create a multi-dimensional and interactive experience for the viewer.

From Ms. Lanina’s artist statement:

“Employing surreal imagery to simultaneously elicit feelings of uneasiness and empathy, I create fantastical creatures that come to life through animation, mechanization and music. Their malformed features and parts illustrate internalized trauma and torment while still engaging in the life-affirming celebration of feminine power and its connection to the mysterious, the beautiful, and the sensual.”

Ms. Lanina’s work has been displayed internationally in museums and galleries such as the Seoul Art Museum, Moscow Museum of Modern Art, Patrick Heide Contemporary in London and the Ludwig Museum in Cologne, Germany. Revolt Magazine chose her as one of NYC’s top 10 artists in 2013

This exhibition will run March 7th through April 12th. There will be an Artist’s Reception on March 8th, 6-8pm and a Lecture and Gallery Talk on April 12th at 3:30 pm. Free parking for the reception and lecture is available at the ACC parking garage on 12th Street.
