Dear Faculty Colleagues,<\/p>\n

There is a lot of news in this edition, so please take a moment to read through carefully. You\u2019ll learn more about testing center policies, COVID-19, sick leave, and get to take a SAS survey.<\/p>\n

Remember, today is voting day! If you haven\u2019t already, please plan to exercise your civic duty. Wear your sticker with pride!<\/p>\n

Senate Meetings \/ Minutes \/ Agendas<\/h2>\n

3\/13\/20 Senate Meeting<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 noon to 2pm HBC 301 \u2013 The agenda for this meeting is in development and will be posted once complete.<\/p>\n

Newsworthy<\/h2>\n

Changes to Testing Center Policies<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0The website to walk you through all the new policies for faculty using the testing centers<\/a>\u00a0is now available. Please take a peek, and note that the deadline to submit requests for exceptions is March 27, 2020.<\/p>\n

COVID-19 Updates<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The college is working hard to keep us all updated on the emerging situation with this virus. Please adhere to the best practices for keeping us all safe. You can find them (and up-to-date information about ACC\u2019s response) at the\u00a0ACC Coronavirus page<\/a>. ACC\u2019s main web page has a banner across the top that will also take you to the page\u00a0if you misplace this link.<\/p>\n

If a campus should need to close, please be aware that you can still teach your classes online, using Blackboard Collaborate, Webex or Google Hangouts, all provided through ACC. Your\u00a0friendly neighborhood TLED staff<\/a>\u00a0can help you get all set up. Preparation is key, so take a moment now to learn more about how to switch from in-class to online if needed. There will be more messaging from ACC about this in the near future.<\/p>\n

Sick Leave Policy for Faculty<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Faculty member Sukisha Moragne was interested in how sick leave is calculated for faculty. She reached out to Steven Hassel, who shared the\u00a0chart explaining our accrual rates<\/a>. If you\u2019ve ever wondered why we earn sick leave at different levels, take a peek at the chart to find your answers. Thanks to Sukisha and Steven!<\/p>\n

The Academic Master Planning (AMP)<\/strong>\u00a0process will continue on March 27 with the second round of Area of Study meetings. Learn more about it on the timeline portion of the\u00a0AMP website<\/a>. Reach out to your department chair or dean if you want to be a part of your Area of Study team!<\/p>\n

SAS Survey<\/strong>\u00a0[due March 27, 2020]\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 Our Student Accessibility Services colleagues are interested in learning how to better serve both students and faculty. Please complete the\u00a0Faculty Survey on SAS Testing<\/a>\u00a0to share your views.<\/p>\n

ACC Climate Survey [due March 6, 2020 \u2013 LAST REMINDER!]\u00a0<\/strong>You can find more information in an email entitled \u201c[Employee Climate Survey] Be an Influencer! ACC Employee Climate Survey\u201d, or go directly to the survey\u00a0ACC Employee Climate Survey Spring 2020<\/a>\u00a0.<\/p>\n

PSAA Nominations [due March 25]<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The Presidential Student Achievement Award (PSAA)\u00a0is the most prestigious student award given by ACC. The recipient must demonstrate academic excellence, service to the college and community, and commitment to ACC values and vision. Does this sound like one of your students? Submit a nomination to acknowledge\u00a0their hard work and dedication.<\/p>\n

In addition to speaking at graduation, the recipient receives a $500 award and a plaque. To qualify for the award, candidates must be graduating in Spring 2020, have a 3.5+ cumulative GPA, meet satisfactory levels of financial and academic responsibility, and be in good standing within the Student Standards of Conduct\u00a0(Student Life will confirm eligibility upon submission).<\/em><\/p>\n

SCHOLARSHIPS!!! [due April 1, 2020]\u00a0<\/strong>As mentioned in the last Standard, the ACC Foundation has ONE APPLICATION for all 700 scholarships they offer our students. Applications are open now, so please let your students know about them. There is help to complete the applications available at every ACCelerator. Students can view\u00a0THIS PAGE<\/a>\u00a0to get the application, and help to apply.<\/p>\n
