This week, we\u2019ll be having an important Senate meeting. I invite all of you to attend.<\/p>\n

While there are no new action items, I want to ensure that you take a peek at the \u201cCurrent Action Items\u201d section, as three important issues have final deadlines this week. If you\u2019ve not yet reviewed these, please make a point to do that now. I\u2019d particularly like to hear from more people on the first item so I have a good representation of faculty voices to share with Provost Cook.<\/p>\n

Senate Meetings \/ Minutes \/ Agendas<\/h2>\n

6\/12\/20 Senate Meeting noon -2pm<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The agenda for this meeting is\u00a0now available<\/a>. Details for how to join this meeting online can be found on the Senate Calendar. You can add the event (and online joining details) to your own calendar by clicking the link above. We will be hearing from Khayree Williams, Director of the Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation Campus Center, as well as Wayne Maines, Vice President, of Safety and Operations. All Full-Time Faculty are welcome to join us and will earn professional development credit for their attendance.<\/p>\n

Newsworthy<\/h2>\n

Important ACC Clinical Counseling Information for Students<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Times are challenging right now, and students may benefit from some support. You can let your students know more about ACC’s Clinical Counseling Services by sharing the links below, which will take them to introductory videos about Counseling services.\u00a0Note that a Spanish version of one of the videos is in production, but not ready quite yet. I will share it when it is available.<\/p>\n

June 5th<\/sup>\u00a0ASAC Meeting<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 At this meeting, the Senate brought forward a correction to the guidelines for AR 1.04.014 \u2013 Non-grade Related Academic Student Complaints. The guidelines required that the faculty member be given a report about the outcome of any appeals, but not the outcome of an initial complaint. Language was added to ensure that faculty members are made aware of initial complaints as well. In addition, the Senate requested changes to the membership of ASAC, to ensure that there is a more even balance of Administration and Faculty \/ Staff. Those suggestions were discussed and will be sent forward to the Shared Governance Review Council. Minor wording changes to clean up a math error were made to AR 6.07.002 Faculty Professional Development Hours. Faculty Feedback Needed [June 10th @ 5:00pm<\/strong>\u00a0\u2190LAST REMINDER] \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Provost Charles Cook has asked the FT Faculty Senate to collect ideas for faculty development opportunities regarding our transition to online education. Please complete this\u00a0form<\/a>\u00a0by June 10th<\/sup>\u00a0at 5:00pm.<\/p>\n

Teaching and Learning Academy [applications due June 15<\/strong>\u00a0\u2190LAST REMINDER] \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>You might want to consider participating in the 2020-2021\u00a0Teaching and Learning Academy<\/a>. Anchored in the ACC Faculty Values and developed by twenty-five faculty for faculty, the Teaching and Learning Academy (TLA) contributes to student success by expanding faculty teaching practices.\u00a0 Essential to the Teaching and Learning Academy is the creation of a cohort of faculty who will learn from each other by exploring the scholarship, art, and passion of teaching.<\/p>\n

The Teaching and Learning Academy offers faculty 4 courses. Each course is 15 hours that includes 12 hours of asynchronous online coursework. The remaining 3 hours are completed in a Cohort Meeting the last Friday of each course from 8:30 to 11:30 AM.\u00a0\u00a0Applications<\/a>\u00a0are now being accepted for Fall 2020.<\/p>\n

2020-2021 Committee Service Preferences Form [July 15th @ 5:00pm] \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Submit your preferences to serve on crucial 2020-2021 committees and councils! Your service will ensure faculty members are heard in many policy-making meetings throughout the year. Please visit ACC\u00a0Shared Governance<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>for details about our role in shaping ACC policies and procedures.
