THE SENATE STANDARD – ISSUE 40<\/strong><\/p>\n Dear Faculty Colleagues,<\/p>\n I hope that your summer is going well and that those of you who are teaching are winding up your semester successfully.<\/p>\n This week\u2019s Standard focuses on some opportunities for increasing wellness and to examine a Board Policy that will affect faculty. The Senate is hard at work ensuring that the faculty voice is represented at ACC.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n 7\/10\/20 Senate Meeting noon – 2pm<\/a>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<\/strong>This is the\u00a0final call<\/strong>\u00a0for agenda items for our July meeting. Review the topics, dates and times, and sign up in the\u00a0professional development database<\/a>.<\/p>\n \n Senate Work on Board Policy DMC (Local) on Financial Exigency and Workforce Reduction \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>At the June 22nd<\/sup>\u00a0Board meeting, there was an agenda item on this board policy. I\u2019ve been working with the full Senate to\u00a0develop a statement to share with administration and the Board<\/a>. In the goal of transparency, I want to share it with you all. Please note that at this time, I\u2019m not taking comments on the document, but have created a voting instrument for Senators. Please take a peek at the details and statements at the link above. If you wish to share your thoughts with your Senator, find their contact information on the Senate webpage above, and feel free to cc me.<\/p>\n \n Committee on ACC\u2019s Grievance and Complaint Processes [need 1 faculty \u2013 due July 2 \u2190LAST REMINDER] \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>The Senate and many others have been working to get a thorough revision of the processes we use to handle employee complaints and grievances. I\u2019m pleased to announce that Administration has agreed to overhaul our Administrative Rule governing this process. This will be a subcommittee of the Administrative Services Council, and each employee association will have one representative. The group will be helped by Charlene Buckley, Director of the Compliance Office, and Amanda Dean, Ombudsperson. Please submit your application by\u00a0July 2<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n TCCTA Conference Leading from the Middle<\/strong>\u00a0[July 7-8 \u2190LAST REMINDER] \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0This conference will offer insight into recent legislative updates, suggestions on how to meet SACSCOC requirements, a broad overview of current legal issues in regards to public employment, and how to transition into the fall semester. Anchored in the ACC Faculty Values and developed by twenty-five faculty for faculty, the Teaching and Learning Academy (TLA) contributes to student success by expanding faculty teaching practices.\u00a0 Essential to the Teaching and Learning Academy is the creation of a cohort of faculty who will learn from each other by exploring the scholarship, art, and passion of teaching.<\/p>\n The Teaching and Learning Academy offers faculty 4 courses. Each course is 15 hours that includes 12 hours of asynchronous online coursework.
