Dear Faculty Colleagues,<\/p>\n

This week, you can review minutes from our most recent Senate meetings. We have two remaining meetings this year with our administration, and I\u2019ll let you know how those go once they\u2019ve happened.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m also excited to help you begin to get to know our incoming Senate President, Wayne Butler. Please read his introduction! I\u2019ll be sure to include more from him in our last few issues of this year\u2019s Standard.<\/p>\n

You may have heard that this year\u2019s ACC Award Ceremony has moved online. Each year, this event is my favorite to attend, but this year, the tickets are FREE! Even better! Please read below how you can support your colleagues, and get a little inspiration for yourself by attending this terrific event.<\/p>\n

Newsworthy<\/h2>\n

Get to know our Incoming Faculty Senate President! \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0Wayne Butler will be beginning his term at the start of the Fall 2020 semester. I am confident that you will enjoy working with him as much as I have. Wayne has written a note to introduce himself so you can start getting to know him. \u00a0Read his introduction\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

ASC Grievance and Complaint Subcommittee \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Thanks to all the faculty who indicated that they were willing to serve on this important group. I was sad that we couldn\u2019t send forward everyone who volunteered. The Senate selected Lei Ji and Jack O\u2019Grady to be our representatives. If you have concerns about our grievance and complaint process that you want to be considered, please reach out to them so your voice can be heard.<\/p>\n

TLED Award Recipients \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0TLED is excited to share that they’ve found a fun and celebratory way to bring their Awards ceremony online! Next week – Thursday, July 30th – we’ll honor outstanding faculty and staff with teaching and leadership excellence awards.<\/p>\n

Teaching an on-campus class this summer session? Your feedback is requested! [due by end of summer session two] \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Samantha Croft is the Senate representative on our \u201cACC Back to Campus\u201d Committee. She asks that faculty who are currently teaching on ACC campuses provide feedback about how our current plans and processes for returning to campus are working. If you are teaching on campus right now, please send your feedback to\u00a0scroft@austincc.edu<\/a>\u00a0so she can bring them to the attention of the committee.<\/p>\n

Annual Educational Level Adjustment [due July 31] \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0Human Resources is now going through the process of updating faculty education levels. If you received a new degree this year, please review the\u00a0announcement<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0form<\/a>\u00a0for more details.<\/p>\n

Teaching and Learning Academy [\u2190APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED TO AUGUST 3RD] \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>You might want to consider participating in the 2020-2021\u00a0Teaching and Learning Academy<\/a>. Anchored in the ACC Faculty Values and developed by twenty-five faculty for faculty, the Teaching and Learning Academy (TLA) contributes to student success by expanding faculty teaching practices.\u00a0 Essential to the Teaching and Learning Academy is the creation of a cohort of faculty who will learn from each other by exploring the scholarship, art, and passion of teaching.<\/p>\n

The Teaching and Learning Academy offers faculty 4 courses. Each course is 15 hours that includes 12 hours of asynchronous online coursework. The remaining 3 hours are completed in a Cohort Meeting the last Friday of each course from 8:30 to 11:30 AM.\u00a0\u00a0Applications<\/a>\u00a0are now being accepted for Fall 2020.<\/p>\n
